KOISRA was honored to be invited by the Embassy of the Republic of Guatemala in the Republic of Korea to a press conference held on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Embassy of Guatemala in Seoul. Conducted in English, the event presented Guatemala’s tourism opportunities, the role of coffee as a national symbol, and current initiatives aimed at strengthening cultural and economic exchange between Guatemala and Korea.
Guests also had the opportunity to taste Guatemalan coffee during the conference and enjoy traditional Guatemalan cuisine afterward, offering a direct experience of the country’s rich culinary and cultural heritage.
Guatemalan Coffee and Its Appeal in Korea
The conference underlined the importance of coffee to Guatemala’s identity and export economy, positioning Guatemalan coffee as a high-quality, premium product. Speakers noted the strong and growing interest among Korean consumers and the specialty café sector in distinctive, origin-driven coffees from Guatemala.
Deepening Guatemala–Korea Relations
In her official remarks, H.E. Sara Angelina Solís Castañeda, Ambassador of Guatemala to Korea, recalled the historic depth of Guatemala–Korea ties and emphasized the strength of the bilateral relationship. She described Korea as “a strategic partner and a close friend,” particularly in view of Guatemala’s recent accession to the relevant Protocol and the imminent entry into force of the SICA–Korea Free Trade Agreement, which will open new avenues for exchange, cooperation, and investment.
In October 2025, Guatemala and the Republic of Korea mark the 63rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, underscoring the enduring ties between the two nations. Guatemala also hosts a vibrant Korean community of more than 7,000 people, established in the country for over half a century. This is the largest Korean community in Central America and the Caribbean, and the fourth largest in Latin America. Approximately 200 Korean companies are currently established in Guatemala, reflecting the rich cultural, commercial, and social exchanges that have flourished over time.
KOISRA’s Role in Guatemala–Korea Business Collaboration
KOISRA was pleased to participate in this press conference and engage with the Embassy and other stakeholders. As a Korea-based consulting and business development firm, KOISRA looks forward to working with the Embassy of Guatemala to support Guatemalan coffee producers and other companies with market entry, partner search, B2B matchmaking, and ongoing business development in Korea, helping to deepen practical, mutually beneficial ties between the two countries.
